Hey Guys,

I've been out of the box building and oc'ing scene for a little while. The last system I did OC was my 1 G T-bird on an A7V and a TNT2-Ultra.

I've recently built a new system, the only thing missing is a new video card. I'm embarrassed to say I've been limited by money to a radeon ve for the past couple years.

There are a few things that don't make sense recommendation and price wise:

9700 pro is ~$100 more than 9800 np.
9700np is still ~$50 more than 9800np - why is this? tom's buyer's guide says the 9700 is just a little slower than the 9800, wouldn't the pricing be the opposite, newer card more expensive?

So, the question is, what's the best (thinking of future gaming) card I can get for ~$200? Yes I know it depends on which type of each card I end up getting, samsung vs. inf., 128 bit vs 256 bit, if np - the 4 inactive pipes aren't defective, etc. But if your card crapped out, and you had to buy one with only $200, what would you do?

Thanks to anyone who offers help!!

Hey,

Thanks for the info, the 9800se's start at around $150 on pricewatch. Hopefully I can find one with samsung memory, any other things to look out for?

Ok, so I'm better off with the 9600 pro or waiting for prices to comes down? That is unless I can find (if you know where, please let me know) a 9800np non-se?

Thanks again

Anyone running a Xeon workstation?
