Okay so im like 30% know what im doing with pcs and the rest is made up of 70% noob so go easy

Okay so i found out about xmp and went into my bios to enable profile 1 to get 3200 rather than 2133 on my ram.

Done that last night and since then my pc would only show black screen and would not post.

So i reset the cmos and all is well, kind of

Well i lied nothing is going well 🙁

Everything is reset in bios, booting order is sorted but now it will go to windows loading screen the onto another black screen with just the windows loading symbol not the actual windows logo the onto just a black screen and if i press the mouse the cursor will show for a bit but thats about it.

Thankyou for reading !

It depends on what you mean. Faulty RAM (from ESD or other causes) can register correctly and function incorrectly. If your RAM is detected and you want to know if your RAM is good, you need to run a memory test.

Okay, what's the exact model number of your DIMMS? If they are only rated for 2133 and you have tried (unsuccessfully) to OC them, then you could have damaged the DIMMS. Try resetting your BIOS, hopefully that will bring everything back to default and allow you to boot.

If that doesn't work you will need to get another DIMM that's compatible to test. Then you'll know for sure if it's the failed OC attempt that has killed your ram.

Hopefully resetting the BIOS will do the trick :)

Thankyou for reply how would i go a out resetting my bios is that tge same as resetting cmos ? So confused also ill try a different stick of ram and my ram is rated 3200 i made the mistake of putting it to 4200 ffs! Probably blew them up

yes, they may still show up in the bios.

Hmmm. Okay, Resetting Cmos is a physical thing, often taking a battery out, changing a jumper. Its worth a shot just to be sure, but I would suspect the bios reset, should do it. Just check your mobo manual and try the cmos reset. Make sure to discharge any static or get an anti-static band before doing so.

If the DIMMS don't work then, yes you could have fried them. On XMP, to get the ram working at that speed you could well have overvolted. As I said only way to be sure is to test a second DIMM.

If you can do a bios update, that might be an option too. Download the latest Bios from you mobo website, and if you can select boot order, or better yet, update from USB (something like EZflash), then updating the Bios might help get things working too.
