It'sTime to replace the good old 8800 GTX - but with what?

My good old 8800 gtx always statisfied me, until i bought BFBC!
My old gpu really struggles with it and HBOA is really killing it. i get like 25-30 fps

Already this week i upped my old memory (2gb corsair XMS2 800mhz) to GeiL black dragon 4 gb 1066mhz
and Oc my Intel E6750 to 3.2 ghz (turned the clock to 400) (want to hit 3.5 but haven't tried yet, oc'ing is all new to me)
But that didn't help at all for the frame rate in BFBC2

So i am looking for a new Gpu
But i am uncertain on what to buy
the ATI 5850 seems appealing, and there are some versions with a 765mhz
same goes for the 5870 wich is a bit more expensive
and last but not least the GTX470
Or maybe a GTX285 - but that one has no DX11 support

Also i wonder wich board manufacturer is the best? Asus ? MSI others ?

The native resolution of my screen is 1680 * 1050
system specs
Intel E6750 @ 3.2
ASUS P5K
4gb mem
750w PSU

If I were you, I'd grab an MSI HD5850. Since you're new to overclocking, you'll enjoy your first experience overclocking the card, and what better card to start with? The HD5850 can achieve cocks over 30% its stock, which is amazing. 765Mhz? You can OC your card to 1,000mhz easily.

HD5850 or wait for the GTX470(presuming that your 750 PSU has at least 38 amps total on the +12volt rail) it is just a question how much of a hurry you are in.

Well i want to buy one within the month...
next week i am going on a trip in New york (i live in belgium) to see if i can get a bargain there
The heat of the GTX and power consumption kinda hold me back...

Apart from the power consumption most likely the GTX is going to be almost sold out a few days after release and the few that would be available will have price premium. That would make the HD5850 an obvious choice.

And if you do go for the 5850, make sure it's one around a 725MHz core clock, don't get the one with 725 core cocks like I did. And no matter what shadow says, it doesn't overcock for crap. RMA'd.

Both those cards are a great choice better than std cooling the MSI comes with the best overclocking software and Sapphire with their reputation as the biggest producer of ATI cards

Make sure you overclock your CPU to reduce the bottleneck.

Cpu is oc'd till 3.2 Ghz ATM
Still fiddling with bios option (still green behind the ears )
