Recently, iPhone received the new OS 11. But when i tried to update my iPhone 7, it would not complete the pre-update backup due to lack of harddrive space.
So i went in to the folder where the old backups were stored on my main SSD disk and deleted them. Permanently.
I then used command promt to redirect iTunes to my other harddrive when looking for the files. I used this command:
mklink /J “%APPDATA%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup” “E:\iTunes Backup”
and it worked fine.
BUT, now when i try to update my iPhone, i get the infamous error message:
[/url]
iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone
Delete the backup for this iPhone in Device Preferences, then try again
But, there are no backups in Device Preferences as i deleted them manually. The folder is empty.
I also tried recovering the files by using Recuva, but the problem persisted. Now these files are overwritten.
Please refer to pictures if additional information is needed.
