Hi,
I wonder if I'll build a mini itx computer to edit video and not for gaming, I must necessarily have a video card?
and then what would be the appropriate motherboard and CPU for this?

No. It does not need a separate discrete GPU. It does need a CPU with an integrated GPU.

To answer your motherboard/CPU question, I would need to have some idea of your budget.

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1246 V3 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($276.99 @ SuperBiiz)

This is a high-end start. 4 powerful cores, and hyper threading, add 16Gb of decent RAM, an SSD, a HDD and a high-quality PSU and some other bits and pieces, and there you are.

There are more expensive options, and cheaper options.

DonkeyOatie,

Thank you for your help.
Do you have any "built" ready in mind, my budget is for a high-end start, I'm looking especially a case tasteful, simple, small and minimal ( like Fractal Design Node 304 Mini-ITX, any suggestion) , an other question is if it is necessary a CPU Cooler or other fans?. :)

We build a lot of mITX system at school. I 'train' my students with them because the challenge of powerful parts in small spaces teaches good habits.

I have to go to school soon, but will respond with a complete system this evening (my time, it's 5:00am here now)

Here's a system.

Hi and thanks , really I appreciate the help.

Last question is if this Motherboard: ASRock H97M-ITX/AC Mini ITX LGA1150, has a PCIe SSD? and if the case have his own fan inside? and if this case dont have an optical drive , how can install the Windows 8, I think this is by an USB, but I must do a bootable USB?

:)

I use that board myself in this computer. I don't quite understand what you mean. In this configuration, the board will have a free x16 PCI-e slot that could be used for a graphics card or a PCI-e based SSD. If you mean something like M2, it lack such an interface. My ASRock Z97E ITX/ac does have an M2.

I use a cheap external USB DVD drive for installation. It cost me $25 and I use it on all my systems and my students systems, and loan it to friends for testing, although it's cheap enough for them to buy their own. :)

If you look through this thread, you can see pictures of some builds we have done with this board. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2625445/build-log-consolidated-middle-school-builds.html. My Z97E ITX/ac is outside a case at the moment, so I can take more detailed photos if you need them.

Yes in deed i to iprimarily meant to put a M.2 memory in motherboard and also, secondarily, to be able to use a slot in the x16 PCI-e.

The last questions:

1.- You think this is good ?,
CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1246 V3 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
and
Motherboard: SRock Z97E-ITX/ac Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard

(it need a fan or a cooler?)

2.- If this CPU/MB dont need a cooler its possible to to put on this chassis?:
Morex 557 Universal Mini-ITX Case, Fan-less, Compact

3.- If I want to put this CPU/MB on Lian Li PC-TU100 chassis
perforce I need the Cooler Master VSM 550W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply?.

Can I put the smaller, and adequate PSU to chassis measures like
SilverStone Technology 450W SFX Form Factor 80 PLUS GOLD Full Modular Power Supply with +12V single rail, (ST45SF-G)
or
SilverStone Technology 600W SFX Form Factor 80 PLUS GOLD Full Modular Power Supply with +12V single rail, (SX600-G)

Perforce I need 550W, or it could be less or more watts?

Thank you again , Im very close to solve my ignorance.
I wish I could be in school again, and a teacher like you teach me to build my computer, and thanks for the pictures. :)

Here's information on the motherboard. http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z97E-ITXac/ Check the M2 slot. It takes 30mm and 42mm M2 cards. Does that work for you?

The stock cooler that comes with your CPU will do for ordinary 4-6 hours a day 'business' use. If you plan to have it running 24/7 while it processes data, I would consider a better aftermarket cooler, which is always much easier to install at the time of construction.

No, that small case will not do. You computer will need well over 100 Watts of power and the power delivery for that case is too low. In addition, your system will be using the Intel stock CPU cooler at least.

The motherboard and cooler will fit in the Lian Li case, but the 3.5" 2Tb HDD will not. If you like that style, you will need to move up to the TU200 case.

The SFX Silverstone Strider is the PSU I use in this system and I am very satisfied with it. I'm using the larger Silverstone Milo ML07 case, a slim HTPC case that was featured in the first of the builds in my post above.

Here's the current build.

It lacks the HDD. You need the TU200 case, which is similar, to fit a 3.5" HDD, but you may be able to fit a slower 2.5" HDD.

Since you have a Z97 overclockable board, I upped the memory to 2400Mhz. You will be able to use that with the Xeon and it will give you around 10% speed increase for computational tasks, but it is a place to save money, if the budget is getting out of hand.

By last.

- which M.2 memory you recommend for this motherboard

and

- This built can also be adapted to Silverstone Tek Aluminum Tower Computer Case FT03B-MINI?
