Ello all -

I have inside my new PC a Leadtek 128MB 5700 , but I can swap it if I please with the one in my mother in law's PC - an Ati Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB card. Both are similar in RAM - so Im now sure which is better ! The forum implies Ati , but I thought I should ask the experts!

Could you please tell me which one I should be thinking of using to improve my visuals for Planetside , Counterstrike and all the other online games I play ?

The ATI card has a more powerfull graphics chip, it's a more powerfull card.

But it sounds to me like you're confusing megabytes with power as well, so you should have some information for future reference!

OK, so which do you think would perform better, a GeForce4 MX420 with 256MB of RAM, a GeForce4 MX440 with 128MB of RAM, or a GeForce4 Ti4200 with 64MB? The answer might confuse you: The Ti4200 would be faster than the MX440, which would be faster than the MX420. The reasons are that the Ti4200 uses a more powerfull chip, the MX440 has 2x the bandwidth of the MX420 (128-bit vs. 64-bit).

So you really need to know what you're getting yourself into. For now, the 9800 Pro is going to be fastest, but in the future you'll want to examine the technology before making any decision, rather than go by some nearly irrelavent number like megabytes.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
