I've tried o get it to use the NVIDIA graphics card for all he games from steam but it can't even ru just cause 2 without lagging badly on single player. Any help would be great.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but how do you do that? Just started using computers for gaming so I'm not great with them.

go to the nvidia website and download the latest drivers (should be some bits labeld download or drivers or something on the main page)

After that right click my computer and select device manager and look for exclamation marks, If you see some it means that the driver for that particular device hasn't been installed.

Also, Did your laptop come with Windows or did you install it by yourself.

I still suggest you download and install the latest drivers from Nvidia.

If that doesn't fix the problem then, What settings are you trying to run Just Cause 2 at? Maybe try lowering the settings.

i tried it on low, i'll try downloading the drivers. just wondering if you know a way to see which graphics card is being used.

I have a very similar problem. Just purchased an HP Envy TouchSmart 17t-j100 Quad Edition CTO Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR) with an NVIDIA 740M graphics card. It worked wonderfully until a few days ago the computer "recommended" that I change my driver to an Intel version (4600). In my haste and lack of knowledge I accepted, and now some games don't run and display is slower. I deleted all the drivers for both the Intel and NVIDIA cards and reinstalled both, and can see them in Device Manager, although the NVIDIA card says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". HP told me to run NVIDIA control panel and make some changes, but when I try to open that control panel I get "NVIDIA Display Settings are not available. You are not currently using a display attached to an NVIDIA GPU". I have downloaded the NVIDIA 740M Windows 8 64 bit drivers several times, both from within Device Manager (i.e., Windows) and the NVIDIA site itself, the last time allowing it to search my system (it identified the same driver I was manually selecting). The NVIDIA drivers are in a folder C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\331.82. I tried disabling the Intel driver to "force" the computer to use the NVIDIA but no luck. I'm most disappointed - my new computer doesn't work! HP support no help, they now say remove everything and reinstall everything - can't believe that the switch from the NVIDIA driver to the Intel driver can't be reversed easier than that. Can you please help?

I think the most time efficient will be to reinstall windows. I will try to uninstall Intel graphics from add or remove programs.
