ive entered SSID and password and my phone still cant connect

I have a new android 4.1 and WiFi is it caon in settings but my phone still won't connect to my wireless network at home. I've tried adding it by entering SSID and password but it says it can't reach??

You don't enter the SSID, you set your phone to scan for available networks then you look for yours in the list.
If it's not in the list it's probably out of range so can't be picked up by your phone.

If you are sure you are within range, restart your router and your phone.

If you can't find your network your router may be set to not broadcast the SSID, also you may need to manually allow access to the phone by its MAC address
