[SOLVED] I've got 2 Macbook Pro's that need reformatting

They both turn on, but they are SO bogged down with crap that they literally take forever to boot up. They need to be reset to factory settings by means of reformatting them.

Problem is, I need to boot from USB drive or Disc and just start from scratch, but I don't have a OSX disc, nor do I have access to the Apple App store. How can I reformat these?

Solution
Try holding Command-R at boot to get to recovery. You have to have a modern OSX in order to do that so if that doesn't work you will need a USB or CD/DVD.
