so long story short my computer only plays sound when i play my headset's green sound jack into the mic slot of the front panel and i can only use my mic when i plug the pink mic jack into my headphone slot on the front panel, and even when i do this the sound feels like its at about 5% and i can literally hear nothing, when plugged into the headphone slot it can hear absolutely nothing. none of the other audio ports on my pc seems to work and my system wont even detect my sound card

ive updated motherboard drivers
sound drivers
sound card driver
and every other driver under the sun, all 3 headsets tht ive tried only work when plugged into the mic slot but work perfectly fine on everything else i use them on(phone, laptop, tablet)

i have honestly never come across anything like this in the 7/8 odd years of building computers

oh and every now and then it wont even detect the headphones as says nothing is plugged in however when i remove the headphones it says a headset is plugged in and it plays through nothing

check in the windows sound panel that nothing is muted. look in sound devices make sure the sound card is the default output drivers. if it is in the sound control panel if it realtek chipset is a check box you have to see if it checked or unchecked. the box says make the front and rear audio ports one device. make sure that off so the rear ports and front ports are two diffrent devices. if you put in an after market sound card you have to move the front case sound cable from the mb to the sound card and turn off the mb on board sound chipset.

followed everything n its made no difference, nothing is muted everything is at 100% im gettting to the point where im tempted to throw the whole bloody thing out the window its beeng doing my head in for 3 days now but i dont wana take it to a techy n get charged 500 quid for something rlly stupid n simple

if your using sound card turn off the onboard sound. make sure the sound cable for the case is connected to the sound card. try a set of speakers or another head phones in the pc case. some headphone pins and plugs dont work together. some cases you have to slightly pull the pin out for the headphones to work. in the sound for windows make sure it not set to 5.1 or 7.1 should be set for headphones or stero.

ive not given up because according to realtek audio manager i now have my big speakers which go out my digital audio cable which is the only way i can get sound, a set of speakers which dont exist and some headphones which dont exist, neither of the last two are plugged in, according to to the audio manager there is something permanently plugged into the front headphone jack
