Hello! I have a HP CompaQ 8200 Elite with a lga1155 mobo. I'm using the stock i5-2400 CPU, but i've been looking to upgrade to the i7-3770(k), but i'm wondering if it would work, bcz the i7 is an Ivy bridge CPU, and my current one is a Sandy bridge CPU. I know Intel said that lga1155 supports Ivy, but does that also apply to my HP CompaQ? 100÷? Thanks!

If your board manufacturer released a BIOS update to add support for Ivy Bridge chips then it may work, but I very much doubt HP did and they probably stopped updating the BIOS a long time ago. I'd get a new board and a new chip or if not just go for the 2600.
