i am getting a i5-3570k processor and i just wanted to check with someone that i5 of this batch is a good overclocker? I heard many bad things about malaysian batch.

no 2 CPUs are the same in terms of overclock ability, so someone here may get a good CPU, and yours may need a load of voltage just for 4.2ghz

I know about that but the difference in a single batch is very small and i need to know the overclocking potential from someone of the same batch.

The batches aren't that specific either, seen people try to use this as a baseline before and get drastically (.5ghz) difference.

nope your best bet is to just keep buying them and selling the "slow" or "hot" ones on ebay till you find a good one.

That processor is made exactly to push hard if you weren't going to OC then you actually got a worse processor than a 3570 (nonk) since certain virtual machine settings are disabled on the K model.

coming from c2d, bought a 7970 without even knowing about bottlenecking. A friend told me everything. just now bought a dominator 8 gb ddr3 kit and looking for a mobo + processor for gaming. anything else??

Should perform similarly Those are the OC options if you'd rather not OC I can change a few parts around and save you a few bucks.

Performance difference isn't big that will work just fine for you then.

i heard the idle voltage of hanswell is quite low so we have to upgrade our psu.

Yes some power supplies can't wake a haswell back up once it goes to sleep. You mentioned it at the top but I'm in several threads and forgot that part. You can easily just use my 3570k build I listed two posts up and be fine.

Better off just getting a new power supply, you can set it to never sleep ever but why put the extra stress on the computer/electric bill? A power supply for that build isn't too expensive.
