Ivy Bridge Cpu's don't do well with anything higher than 1.5v ram, true or false?

I've got a thread whereby the OP is using 1.35v ram, x 4gb's Crucial DDR 3 1600 and has just stated that "the Ivy Bridge Cpu's don't do well with anything higher than 1.5v ram (it voids the warranty)"

@alexiou - that table in the link is for i7 not i5.
I actually found the answer that I was seeking,
"Memory improvements (mobile CPUs only) - Intel has also upgraded the dual-channel DDR3 memory controller of mobile Ivy Bridge to accept ultra-low voltage DDR3, or DDR3L. This is a sensible move, as we found that low-voltage memory is a great way to shave 4-19W from your power draw."

Thanks Alexiou, that's a great reference Intel page.

"the OP is using 1.35v ram" so if he is using low memory profile ram and the Intel refers to 1.5v ram then would not that affect something?

No, low voltage memories have some advantages: less heat, flexibility for overclocking.
In that thread I guess that the issues are caused by wrong settings in BIOS .
Ask him what are the settings that he modified in BIOS that caused the shut downs.

Could you ask him?
I think I'm at the wrong end of the stick, he might not respond to me properly, also a "Motherboard Master" would seem like a "professional" asking him rather than an "at home" guesser.
