Ivy bridge vs Haswell

I'm building a new pc with Xeon cpu.

1230v2 vs 1230v3

I'm not aware there is any difference in performance. Only haswell has some new ''functions'' that seems to be uselles.
1230v3 is 20 euro more. Also motherboards are little more expensive. And 1230v3 is not even avaiable in shop i'm buying from.
Will i be missing something if i build ivy bridge?

nope, haswell is up to 10% faster than ivy bridge at the same clock
real world performance is similar

no point of buying haswell if it costs a lot more and is difficult to find

I personally don't think you will no, although I prepare to stand corrected as I don't generally use Xeon's or server hardware often so haven't done as much research. But I am always interested in resale value I think the Ivy Bridge will hold it's money as I've heard that when Intel refresh their chip range after Haswell they will change their socket. Thus meaning that the Haswell machines will likely be similar to the 1156 (Nehalem) chips in that they are basically worth nothing because the boards are so hard to get hold of.

I don't really think Haswell brought anything significant to the table for desktop users and if you can save money with the Ivy Bridge I would probably go with that.
