Jagged graphics and shimmering graphics when playing games and watching videos, especially in HD

It is only recently that my GTX660 has started giving me this trouble. My games, especially flight simulator or any simulator in general... It just looks dreadful and makes it unplayable! World of warcraft and other games are also the same! It is like an AA problem, but do not tell me it is the problem because I have tried every setting possible in game and on the Nvidia inspector.. Even the Nvidia tech support from their live chat couldn't fix it! It is hardly a faulty graphics card! Because its only recent! The card is only 2 months old! To make matters worse, all my videos on Youtube or whatever else is all jagged aswell! And they shimmer! It is driving me insane! Installing and re-installing old and new drivers also does not fix it! It is also nothing to do with my screen or computer because I tried it with different screens etc!

Well there's a couple different things to rule out and you really have to be open to troubleshooting without immediately ruling out the worst situation. Your graphics card is likely the problem, the good news if you've only have it for 2 months it should still be well under warranty. A few things you could try before that though would be to try the card in a different slot if you have one available and see if then problem persists. You could try cleaning the contacts of the card with some isopropyl alcohol and a lint free cloth or qtip. And you could also spray some canned air into the PCIe slot to blow out any possible dust or dirt. Honestly though it sounds like you just have a problem with your card and you might just have to have it...

Honestly though it sounds like you just have a problem with your card and you might just have to have it replaced. Sometimes manufacturing defects take some actual use until they start to cause a problem. I've had to return a couple cards before for the same reason. Generally they send you a brand new card so it's not a bad deal.

Oh yea EVGA is great about RMA's I usually got the replacement within a week.

So I got an RMA and shipped off my graphics card for a replacement. But now I have my old graphics card back in the system, Yet it seems the problem still exists!!! What is causing this!!!! I hope its not the motherboard or anything, because I just can't afford a new one...

Pictures do not do the problem Justice, nor do videos... nor do screenshots... And as regards updates, I didn't know about updating BIOS, and as for chipsets... Clueless. I will try get a photo that shows the problem though.

No Davil, no new card yet. about 10 days! I am using my old GTX 460, and the problem persists! I even tried different PCI-E 3.0 slots!! It is just ridiculous, every game has some amount of flickering and shimmering and severe jagged edges! Lines are the worst! 2 months ago this problem never existed! Buildings have this moving white line slowly moving with you along the edges and its like a repeat of them moving... It is worse when the camera moves in game, it just shimmers like crazy, especially tall street poles, and runway markings in the distance... Everything looks awful! When I watch youtube videos, especially about planes, the same problems persist in the videos, the runway markings shimmer and are jagged so is the wings! Even livestreams are the same! I am beginning to go senile with this problem!

The video he had on his link is just a standard aliasing problem. Everyone who plays Skyrim sees aliasing like that unless they force SGSSAA some how. You could try forcing on Nvidia's Transparency SSAA in the AA options with the video card.

Was this a problem with your previous video card with the same monitor? Videos have aliasing too. Heck, my TV has aliasing if I sit right next to it, it only disappears if I sit at enough distance. Aliasing is a fact of life, though you could try another video card, IGP with another monitor and see if things change, but what you show in that link is standard.

Every graphics card I tried, every monitor no different. The most annoying problems is the flashing and the jagged lines on the Tarmac! It's only recently I seen it! Any idea how to properly set up the nvidia inspector or nvidia control panel?

Guys I have videos on my phone of the problems. It is like a mix of AA and flashing / shimmering all in one! If you PM me inbox, I can email you the videos! Everyone I asked to review it also seen the shimmers! It's not normal!

That is normal aliasing. I believe the shimmering is known as temporal aliasing. AA is the only thing you can use to fix it. The problem is there are lots of different types of AA, and many of them are not offered standard in games. There are transparency and texture aliasing, which is what you are noticing in that Skyrim video, that can only be fixed with SSAA, though FXAA, SMAA and MLAA do help a touch, but not nearly as good. With that video card, you will not be able to handle SSAA, as it is far too demanding for it.

Outside of SSAA, a higher resolution will help make it less noticeable, or even downsampling. Here is a method for downsampling: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=509076
