Hello community,

I've had an issue with my friends computer. He has been trying to install Java on his computer for months now, because this issue has been a problem for a while. The installation works fine and finishes with no error code, but the problem is it isn't the right version. He has an Alienware x17 laptop with Windows 10 (That is clearly 64 bit). It is relatively new so I wouldn't imagine this would happen to him. The problem is that he installs a 64 bit Java, but when he goes into Programs and Features to check if it installed it shows him that the Java version is x86 or 32 bit. He can't play any games that require java because of this issue. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

In general 32-bit java is installed because many browsers are still 32 bit. This is changing allot with time, but for the longest time browsers stuck to being mostly 32-bit.

32-bit programs run fine on 64-bit operating systems.

I just installed the 64-bit version of the Java Runtime without issues(just to test. I am on Windows 10 with the creators update.).

Can you list the games that do not work and if they generate an error?

Thats for flashplayer, is this going to help for java?

Yeah, we play a modpack called FTB on Minecraft. The problem is we he can't play it because the launcher requires 64 bit java to run. Since he has 32 bit he can't play it.

Nevermind, The link fixed the solution. Thank you so much!
