Hey all!
My father and I are creating a business for local Minecraft server hosting. I need a PCPartPicker or similar list so we can purchase the parts. The server will be running 24/7.

Some things to consider:
  • The build should be in the neighborhood of 350-500 dollars.
  • 16GB - 32GB would be preferred
  • AMD System would be preferred as well unless there is a very good Intel CPU deal
  • GPU doesn't need to be good - it's a server
  • Java prefers single core performance
  • The server ram capacity will range from 512MB to 4GB

Any help, part suggestions, or lists would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

How many users do you expect to support at any given time? What will be the bandwidth available of your network connection (up and down speeds)?

As a "business" you might want to consider something like a refurbished Dell server (like the
PowerEdge T30):

I would suggest using Ubuntu Linux. There are several guides to walk you through the MC server process.

At a maximum 40 people would be on at once. My father is a Ubuntu Server admin so I'm sure he'll be able to help with that. My internet up is 475Mbps, and my internet down is 300Mbps.

I would prefer building a PC so I may upgrade parts individually in the future more.
