Hello,

I have a toshiba, windows XP. my old version of Java stopped working, and I tried downloading the updates, but somehow it resulted in Java completely stopping.

I have read quite a bit about how to try to fix it, and have already done the following to no avail:
1) downloaded the new version
2) delete all strands of the old version on my computer and then download the new one
3) delete all previous java folders in the program files, name the download folder simply as C/Java, and then tried to download
4) tried the manual download

Every time, a message came up simply saying download failed. I have made sure to empty my recycling bin, completely swipe it from my computer, etc. I am desperate. What is happening!?!
