What was Project Denver? It was ARMv8 compatible.

I'd say Tegra but those used ARM's IP so that doesn't count.

I'd love to seem them get into the desktop / laptop CPU market. More competition benefits us all. They certainly have the resources to do it.

Remember Transmeta? They thought they could run ARM live translate based on CISC (x86) code. It's performance was horrid. Apple is now showing this.

You need a full recompile to squeeze the best performance. There are enough legacy programs that this creates all kinds of problems. (Especially video games)

Even if they went that route, it would be a very long time before anything shows up considering the bombshell announcement earlier in the year.

But then again they could just shove it on iOS platforms to serve as a test platform before migrating a mature product onto the desktop/laptop product stack.

I doubt it , they will be using the same chip Iphone/ipad has , and RISC-V does not exist on iphones and ipads
