Handheld PCs gaining hype with the release of Steam Deck. I want to make a jenky handheld inside of a Wii-U, Switch Lite, or Game Gear shell using a motherboard from a Samsung Chromebook XE303C12. Would it be possible to source a smaller LCD (7in or under) that would plug directly into the old LCD connector and just work? I know there are LCDs made for Raspberry Pis that plug directly into hdmi slot but I am hoping to save that port for possible tv output on handheld.

The only way to know for sure (maybe) is to obtain the schematics and pinouts for both the motherboard and the LCD.

And you have to account for the necessary video, audio, and power requirements.

Any pins that do not match in either connectivity and/or voltages will need to be matched - if at all possible.

Consider working in two HDMI ports into your project/Raspberry Pi. Or reconsider "possible tv output".

Key word "possible" - how likely are you to really do that? Other options that are more likely: new monitor perhaps with the TV gone....?

Stay flexible and allow room for expansion and growth in your project.
