Joining Battlenet

I've been playing Diablo II as single player over the past month and
really enjoyed it. I've seen reference to Battlenet on this NG and
seen the link on the splash page when I load Diablo. So I thought I
might try it out. Can anyone give me any pointers, or maybe a good
Url that could advise me of the ins and out of playing on-line.
Thanks,
-

Gundemarie's excellent FAQ for here is a good place to start:
http://www.gunde.de/diablo2/agd2faq.html .

There are also regular, ongoing games for the other group, I think
I've seen your name over there, if so you've seen me post the names
and passwords, I won't repeat them here ;-)

Generally, play nice, the way the game is *supposed* to be played
(i.e., no hacks or cheats), find a good group of people to play with
(the games from here or the Amazon Basin games are probably best, the
other groups' games have had problems lately from a couple of
griefers) and you'll find the MP experience to be *much* better than
playing solo. Be warned, though, that if you go into "public" games
(games without a password, the ones you'll see if you hit "join game")
you might end up getting turned off to the whole BattleNet experience.
I know *I* did, but that was back in D1, and before the communities
started setting up channels and games and such where we could find
each other.
