I want to update my bios to 8.xx given in the software update bios of my product given by HP, the problem is that it requires a Windows 8 operating system. As far as I've researched, the bios isn't really OS dependent. So the question is, if I do update my bios using a bios update that was intended for a Windows 8 OS but with the same motherboard which is the Joshua-H61-uATX (Foxconn 2ADA) what would happen?

I want to do this because I bought a new graphics card but when I installed it, it's just stuck on the splash screen of the motherboard and it won't let me boot or go into bios.

Ok it not a flasher and yes it the bios update Hp use to use a flasher and give the bios file separate but I guess they change it but this update mainly for windows 8 os and when you run it I just tried it it will refuse to update unless it windows 8 so you really can't update the bios unless you use 8 you can try though, and it just fixing some UEFI code if you read the fix notes . If this was the traditional flasher it...

Now It really up to you anything can happen what I think may happen is windows gonna say this application doesn't support your os or it gonna work, if it works it shouldn't effect anything, but update the bios. And also if you can get the bios file not talking about the software and if it Phoenix or AMI bios their software they make to updates the bios
For phoenix is this https://www.wimsbios.com/phoenixflasher.jsp don't use the dos one under their the windows version either 32 or 64 depending on the os you have. If you have AMI https://www.wimsbios.com/amiflasher.jsp same as above don't use dos version.

Is this the one I should use or the one on HP's website since they did also provide a bios update just not on my OS. I say this becausd my PC is a OEM

If the bios flasher has the same interface as the links I showed use the hp because they both are not os dependent idk why hp says it is.

If this was the traditional flasher it would be possible. And you don't really need the update since you are on 7 this update was mainly for people who was using 8.
