jump starting a power supply 8-pin connector plugged in? water cooling

I'm testing fans in my pc and am about to fill my watercooing loop. While jump starting a power supply using a 24 pin ATX power connector, should i also unplug the 8 pin connector next to the cpu? Will anything be damaged if it's plugged in? I jump started my computer for 5 to 10 seconds while the 8 pin was still plugged in, and I'm wondering if this could damage my cpu

you cannot start your pc if the 8pin cpu power cable isnt plugged in! it is necessary! as all other power plugs of any other component must be! for further assistance have a look here

I can still check the fans and fill a water cooling loop with the 8 pin power connector unplugged. My question is if I had the 8 pin connector plugged in and jump started the 24 pin and left the computer on for 10ish seconds, would that damage my cpu (i5-4670k)

i would jump start the psu through (atx20+4 pin) just to make sure it works or check fans as you say without any other device plugged in or interfere in any way. is there a reason you want to that.?do you have any particular problem? i havent done that and i suggest you dont try it either.if you want to experiment find something not valuable pc to do so!

it should not have damaged anything by leaving the 8 pin connector in as the motherboard would not have booted the cpu with the 24 pin connecter actually disconnected but i always disconnect it just to be extra safe while testing the loop or removing air by running the pump with a 24 pin bridge plug,
if you jump started with some other method than a bridge plug and the 24 pin connector was connected to the motherboard that might be different

Thanks. Yeah, I looked at videos of people jumping their PSU, but none of them mentioned the 8-pin connector. So when I jumped mine, 10 seconds later I saw that the 8pin was plugged in and I was like... oops...? I wasn't sure.
