I bought the Z270 Krait Gaming motherboard from MSI.
I am a little tight on budget right now due to loans, etc.
I want to ensure the motherboard is working, I got all necessary things, (processor, RAM, HDD, Cooler,PSU) but I didn't get a case due to insane shipping fees so i'll have to look for one locally. Now I know there is a way to jump start a motherboard to force it to start, but I want to make sure:
It wont cause future issues.
I can test whether the motherboard is working.

Solution
yes find the two pins on the motherboard that the power switch would plug into, check the manual, briefly short the pins with a conductor, paperclip/screwdriver/staple, what ever is at hand.
the power switch does exactly this, briefly shorts the pins when the button is pressed. to turn off the system short pins longer, till it shuts down.
