That first one, if the URL doesn't make it apparent, is a pretty
cool-looking monk.

The second one, I don't know. A particularly human-looking alchemical? A
sorceror's Imbued (as per Imbue Amalgam) lackey? A steampunk god's
half-mortal offspring? I don't know, I just think he looks cool.
Certainly more appropriate to Exalted than DnD.

That's the psychic warrior from the new psionics handbook, which
replaced the psionic warrior from the old psionics handbook

http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/psi_gallery/Psi_4.jpg

for reasons I am utterly unable to grasp. I really hate the new psionic
warrior illo.

Except in the context of Exalted, strangely. For Exalted, he works.

I think he's a young Abyssal from the south. Look, you can see the
veins starting to pop out of his skin -- another couple of Essence dots
and he'll be some withered brown mummy-thing covered with a web of
pulsing veins and arteries. Nobody says all deathknights need to be
pale. The glowing eye is clearly a Resonance display, and that daiklave
is definitely bleached soulsteel.

No, he's the iconic Half-Giant; the fact that he's a Psychic Warrior is
incidental. Ragnara is still the iconic Psychic Warrior, except she's been
retconned to be an Elan.

And also, that picture of her appears nowhere in the book. That picture
which is great. As compared to the picture of that iconic half-giant
psychic warrior, which is terrible.

The actual characters aside, the composition of the half-giant pic is
*terrible*.

- David Prokopetz.

Uninspired, maybe. Composition as TERRIBLE? Hardly.

But I prefer the execution of the half-giant more than the drippy-faced
girl.

I'm seeing a really angsty Wood-Aspected Terrestrial, actually - probably an
ill-favoured third son or somesuch. 😉

See, that's the thing. I think the black armor and angsty look were just
trying so hard to be Abyssal that they blew *past* Abyssal into "dark
solar" territory. Sorta like Zhena.

I thought Dusk only because he's, you know, pasty and corpse-like.

And has an oddly shaped head.

Heh. The line between "Abyssal" and "Dark Solar" is somewhat fine at
times...

So when are we going to play again, anyway?

You keep asking me, when you should be asking Nick.

Every time I ask Nick I get no response. I think I am actually
harassing his mother.

Allow me to dispel your doubts; you ARE harassing his mother. That's why
I've stopped asking him. Or rather, her.

I will hassle her no further, then.

Jdjarvis' pictures always remind me of nothing more than a mockup crafted
of papier-mache. Everything he does has that same texture and washed-out
look. Just like Jeff Easley's work always had swirls and whorls that made
it look like dough.
