Just a simple question about an ethernet port

I heard that there is a difference grade on ethernet port even though two ports have same gigabit ethernet specification.
Is it true?

That is the purpose of a standard. All ethernet ports that have gigabit capabilities are pretty much the same. They all can interconnect and work together. The chips might come from different companies but they are more or less the same.
