Just bought a new laptop but the operating system is in German.

I want to format the laptop and install a English OS but I have no idea how to do it since its all in German. Can anyone help me with this?

Did you get a DVD with the OS?

You should be able to boot from DVD/CD or USB flash drive and reformat the laptop prior to reinstalling the new OS- English version.

No need to re-install as you can change the language from within Windows. There is no German version of Windows. There is a version of Windows 7 for England because of legal issues you could install Windows without IE. But other then that Windows is available in like 36 languages.

No disc - not surprising.

Contact the laptop's seller. If you requested English then they should either "fix" or exchange the laptop.

But if you do not care about the current installation then just use the English OS installation media you have and include a pre-install drive formatting prior to loading the OS.

I have done this and redone this, the UI is still in german.
