I just bought a new Acer Aspire laptop with Windows 8. I have tried to install my Office Home and Student 2007 but the laptop does not recognize that I've even put in the disc. I tried to go on the Microsoft website to download it from there but the key isn't recognized. This is a genuine purchased item that I have had downloaded on my previous laptops (now defunct). I'm not very computer savvy so any answers would have to be in simple terms please. Thanks!

Since this is a new Acer laptop, check to see if a trial version of Office is already installed. If it is, try to remove it from Control Panel/Add/Remove Programs (or the Windows 8 equivalent). Then try to install your Office programs.
