Just bought the 4790k

Just got the 4790k and the asus vii formula motherboard and it arrives today in about an hour. Next thing you know the new generation of intel processors "skylake" comes out. 🙁 Should i refund my purchase and buy the new generation processors, or should i stick with my 4790k?

Just go with what you have. It's still a very good platform, the Skylake platform and chipset is sure to have a few kinks still and initially will not be subject to discounts, etc.

I agree. The 4790K will still be a great processor for a while to come. Plus, it has had stability issues worked out already, and a lot of folks are knowledgeable about troubleshooting it by now. Unless you are a serious enthusiast (in which case you probably knew Skylake was coming at least three months ago) and just want to play with the latest technology, the 4790K will serve you extremely well.

thanks for both ur guys response, i wanted too see what others think. plus this is an upgrade from the amd fx 8350.

You'll certainly be happy. The 4790K is superior to the FX8350 in practically every way except price (and just a hair better overclocking in some situations but the advantage is negligible). An i5 is actually pretty close in price to an 8350 while still being better for gaming. AMD just isn't caught up to Intel at the moment with CPUs.
