Just bought Windows 10

First of all, I don't think anybody was confused by my statement and thought I meant anything but reinstalling. He was asking specifically in the context of "how many times can i reinstall it on the same pc?" so again I thought my meaning was quite clear.

The RETAIL version is transferable BTW but it's unlikely this is it. I checked Microcenter and they list W10 64-bit Home as OEM for the $99 version (I didn't see the "retail"...

That depends on your license. For retail, you can have ONE installation at a time, but it doesn't matter where it's used. For OEM, you can install it on one motherboard, and that's it (but you can reformat as many times as you want on that motherboard). Read your product license.

On the same computer you can install as MANY times as you need.

I would suggest learning how to make a backup IMAGE via Acronis True Image or similar (Free manual version for WD, or DiscWizard for Seagate) and periodically update the image in case of virus or bad drive you can't fix.

Once the machine is activated with W10 you can even just use the latest ISO image because you're activated in the cloud. So basically if you lost your W10 disc you'd still be okay.

I would suggest you read the license. You can install OEM just one motherboard, and only once at a time. For example, if you have virtual machines, each one requires a separate license even if it's on the same physical hardware.

OEM also applies to pre-built systems so those licenses can't be transferred either.
