Question Just built a computer and it’s not working

Hello someone please help me I just built my first computer and when I turned it on nothing happened the fans didn’t spin no boot or anything I thought it was the power supply but it was brand new and when I did the paper clip test the fan on the power supply spun so I now am thinking it’s the motherboard but I’m not sure because people are saying that the paper clip test isn’t really good because it can still be a bad power supply even if it passed that test I’m ready to get another motherboard but I just wanna be 100% sure that that’s the problem cause I’ve already spent over a 1000 dollars on it if someone could help that would be great thanks!

That PSU is not of good enough quality for that GPU. Just because the psu can power a fan doesnt mean it can power your system.

I would suggest buying a better psu.

Try reseating your ram.

I know everything is plugged in correctly and firmly and the recommended wattage is only 500 watts for the graphics card

The wattage with the vs650 is fine.

The issue with the vs 650 is the quality.

The VS650 is a low end model and not designed to power a thirsty card like an rx580.

Did you take the ram out and put it back in?

Wouldn’t the case fans spin though when I turn it on literally nothing happens when I try to turn it on I’m really dumb when it comes to things like this thanks for the help!

Not always.

Make sure the power supply is still turned on after testing it.
What happens if you bridge the power switch pins on the motherboard?

Power supply is turned on and plugged in what do you mean by bridging the power switch pins?

Bridge the pins connected to the motherboard coming from your case power switch. These pins should be labeled power switch in your owners manual.

If you bridge the pins with a screwdriver it should turn on.

Did you connect the front panel connectors to the motherboard including the power switch?

Ohhh yea sorry the way you worded that confused me yes I was watching a tutorial so I’m sure they are all in the right spots

Look up the diagnostic leds in the manual and see which one lights up on the motherboard.

I don’t think mine has those and if it does they aren’t lighting up

Take the memory modules out of the dim slots and put them back in firmly.

Still nothing I’m going to try a new motherboard hopefully that fixes it
