Hi,

I built this PC:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/C3jJBb

Cyrorig C7 Cooler
Intel i5-8400 CPU
Silverstone RVZ03B Case
Asus Rog Strix B360-H Mobo
GTX 1080 Windforce OC

(main components if you dont want to click pcpartpicker link)

Basically, the problem is my CPU temps spike up to insane when I am booting up the computer. I heard my fan running fast so as soon as I started up my PC I turn on HWMonitor and found the CPU temp was 93 C. As soon as I open the program it drops down fast to 45 C, and fans slow. And then if I wait like ~1 more min the CPU temp goes down to 35 C where it idles.

But that is an alarming temp to me. Could I have done some stuff wrong? I don't have the ASUS Drivers on my SSD because I did a partition transfer from an old HDD to my SSD. Idk if that could cause anything.

FYI
At idle or once the computer has started in general (tested playing games, running Adobe Drawboard PDF, etc. the temperature returns to normal level at 35-50 C.

I did some more testing, and its reaching insane temps in some games. In No Many Sky it reached 86 C.

Edit from this original post; Just ran MH: World and temps got up to 100 C. Oh man lol...
Something is very wrong.

Think maybe I applied too little thermal paste? Or mounted my Cyrorig C7 wrong? It seemed very secure and the C7 is spinning, though I did have some trouble mounting the backplate to the mobo originally.

Here some info if it can help someone more knowledable lol

I changed the orientation of the heatsink and it seemed to have a positive effect on the temps. Thanks Larry. Will keep updating. Would like to fix so I can use my HTPC lol.

Edit: ok update, I took everything apart, changed the orientation of my C7 and made sure it was flush with the CPU. No Man Sky and other games are now at 40-50 C. That fixed it. No idea how, but I'm happy about it. Wish I could provide more info
