No, Just Cause 2 will not run under Windows XP. JC2 only has a DirectX 10 codepath for rendering, there is no DirectX 9 support. DirectX 10 is not compatible with Windows XP. There have been attempts to hack DX10 support into XP but none were successful. If you want to play JC2 on PC you'll have to upgrade to Windows 7. (or Vista, but why would you want to do that)

I recall the same question being asked about Halo 2 and although there were folk who said they had DX10 running on XP they couldn't get the game to run but there was also folk who reckoned they did get it to run. The long and short of it is, if you believe that you have managed to get DX10 to run on XP then go for it, just don't be surprised if it doesn't work.

Well, if you claim your XP version of Windows supports DX10, then why not try it out?
If it doesn't, you'll need to upgrade it to Win7.

Also, if you don't have a GPU that supports DX10 or higher ( NVIDIA Geforce 8/9 or higher series or AMD/ATi Radeon 2000/3000 or higher) you won't be able to run the game.

So far I have not seen or read of any hard evidence where DirectX 10 software was able to be installed in Win XP.

Sure you can install a DX10 or DX11 card in Win XP, but doing so does not automatically give Win XP the ability to use DX10 or DX11 effects or play games that requires DX10 or DX11.

your windows xp should be direct x 11. it has been for a while now. but the guys are rite windows xp wont use any settings above dx9.c
reason? the windows xp kernal is designed to run dx9, vista dx10 and win 7 dx11...
if you have dx11 hardware on xp then your wasting potential performance, as dx9 games run slightly better on win 7(only about 2 fps on crysis)

im pretty sure just cause 2 is a dx10 minimum game so wont work on dx9/xp and no there is no dx9 hack that will allow you to run a modded version.
