just found out gtx 970 is 3.5gb of vram and not 4gb

will this be a problem running gta 5 maxed out settings on 1080p 60+fps?

my set up is:
intel i7 4970k
8 gb ram
2x gtx970 (sli)

the recommended specfor the game is 2 gb vram

but i'm sure it's not the optimal maxed setting

I've seen my 970 hit a 3.6 GB ceiling in Titanfall, so it's possible for this GPU to max out at 4 GB.

it will perform a little worse but you wont have the Vram issue also you could wait until AMD release the 3xx series cards as they are meant to be better than anything on the market at the current moment

what resolution are you going to be playing on? it does have 4gb vram just the last .5gb is a little slow i guess is a way to put it

I did a torture test on my 970 by running Dragon Age: Inquisition on maxed settings and 4K DSR and the vram went up to about 3.63 GB. So, at least mine can exceed 3.5 GB and push closer to 4 GB, depending on the game. Therefore, you should be fine with your card. Upgrading to a GTX 980 is not really worth it due to the high price.

The card splits the 4GB into a 3.5GB high-priority segment and a 512MB low-priority segment. Yes, the card has access to a full 4GB of RAM.

shouldnt be a problem even though 2 gtx 970's is waaaay overkill for gaming at 1080p and heck even 1 is considered overkill to some people lol
