Just how dangerous are Bounty Hunters?

Hey guys, Im the one who posted the question regarding Jedi's, and
though your posts all answered my questions to an extent, some things
were left unresolved for me. While it does seem that Jedi's won't be
the god-characters I feared they were, a good chunk of players whom I
speak to don't seem to believe it.

Here's my question - how tough are the BH'ers? All I hear is that
they're the antidote to Jedism. Yet when I tried out the prof (I quit
cuz investigation tree seemed like a drag) seemed like the only plus
to it were lightning cannon, which didnt seem any different to me than
a flamethrower (and I know how respectful people are about
Commandoes). What makes the BH so powerful? And is this a good
profession for PvE? Should I maybe rethink finishing it? Any thoughts
or opnions are welcome. Thanks for the energy guys

Ben

Bounty Hunters have the ability to track down Jedi who were foolish enough
to be seen swinging their glow stick. The Lightning Cannon, while powerful
in PvE, misses a lot against players (Jedi) who have a nice amount of ranged
defense. The cannon does not have a DoT like the flamethrower, but it is
substantially faster.

A good PvPing bounty hunter will make use of his carbine and pistol during a
tough fight. Using various carbine specials to inflict numerous state
effects on the target and then switching to their pistol of choice for the
targeted pool attacks like Torso Shot and the dreaded Eye Shot.

After the Scout requirement change for bounty hunter, some bounty hunters
dropped the ranged attack skills and simply kept the Investigation tree.
Some now focus on a melee profession such as Teras Kasi and the more common
Fencer. Now bounty hunters can still hunt Jedi and become a even if not
greater match for the Jedi. It all comes down to skill. Some people simply
do not know how to play their profession.

The big problem with Jedi hunting bounty hunters isn't their new found
ability to attack with melee but with the infamous 'gank squads'. A sole
Bounty Hunter tracks down and initiates combat with the unsuspecting Jedi.
Instead of a one on one fight, the bounty hunter brings a couple of his
friends. Once the Jedi attacks the bounty hunter, GTEF becomes possible.

When perma death was introduced for jedi wannabes the power they got would
have been unquestioned.

However, with no perma death, anyone without a life could open up a jedi
slot simply by grinding professions back in the day..and now quests are
introduced.

SOE toned down Jedi's and will continue to do so because it's just good for
overall game balance. Expecially one where PVP is the end game.
