title basically says it all. I installed some more RAM and an SSD and my computer keeps restarting, sometimes right when I boot up, sometimes a while later. Sometimes it works fine, but when I tried to restart manually it froze while loading windows.

My build (pre the above mentioned add-ons):
Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 Motherboard
AMD FX 6350 CPU
Radeon HD 7870 GPU
Corsair GS 700 PSU
Western Digital Blue 1TB HDD
8gb of RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS

Solution

If you bought them as a set, return both if you still can. But you may still want to do a memory test just to verify.
Oh. In that case, unplug the SSD's data and power cables and see if the issue is still present. If it is, you may have a bad stk of RAM. Run memtest on each stk individually in the first DIMM slot. Let it run for at least 1 full pass.

You could also try a different SATA port in case one is defective.

I took out the new RAM and the computer is now working fine, so I believe that the RAM I was sold is faulty in some way, as I moved my working ram into the othe two slots to confirm that it was not a motherboard-based problem

If it works with the new RAM out but doesn't work with the new RAM in then I wouldn't waste my time with a test as it should come back with errors just take it back to where you got it from for a swap.
