Just installed a new EVGA 1050 ti and no signal on my monitor

So as the title says i just bought a new EVGA 1050 ti and i'm getting absolutely no signal to my monitor from any of the ports (from my graphics card or motherboard) tried reinstalling it in to see if i put it in wrong but no dice. when plugged in the graphics cards fans spin so it has power. also when i take the card out it goes back to normal and i can use the pc again.

my specs are

Operating system
windows 8 enterprise

Hardware
amd a8 5600 apu
8gb RAM
1tb Hard drive

Is this a pre-built computer, like a Dell or HP? If so, the make/model? Can you use a program like Speccy to find out what motherboard you have?

I ask because some pre-builts only allow for certain types of videocard upgrades. Some motherboards are not compatible with the new Nvidia cards, they need a UEFI bios to be present on the motherboard.

Does your monitor have modes? Like Hdmi/DVI/DP. If you're using a different display cable than previously, you might need to change the settings on your monitor to the new one.
