Just installed a new EVGA GTx 680 and encountered a Code 43 Error

Just upgraded my graphics card to a GTX 680 from a GT 620, I also upgraded my PSU from a stock 350 Watts Psu to a Cooler Master Silent pro 80 Plus Gold 800 Watts, The problem is when I rebooted the computer after installing my card, it booted up into low graphics 1280x1024 resolution, I know my HD tv is 1080p so it can handle higher resolutions then this. I tried upgrading the drivers it kept saying that drivers cannot find any compatible device when I went into the Device Manager it showed a Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) error for my GTX 680 card. I searched around on the internet for incompatible drivers error and was able to resolve that however I am still stuck with 1280x1024 and cannot go any higher. I am currently running a HDMI cable running from the card itself to the monitor and cannot go into Nvidia settings because it doesn't recognize my card Please help I am at loss for my next step. run the drivers that it came with on the cd, then update it from there.

Tried and failed I am going to try it out on my friends pc who currently has a gtx 690 to test out my card to ensure it's not faulty. I don't think it is but you never know

okay just tried it on my buddy's computer it works wonderfully, didn't have to do anything to it, I don't know what should be my next step any ideas?

you probably done it already but did you uninstall your old drivers gt 620 first before installing your 680,, go to NVidia website download 600 series 680 drivers and do a clean install,,and if your processer has integrated graphics disable them in the bios first,,,,check the card is sloted in correctly if still don't recognize card reinstall your motherboard chipset drivers,,,if still doesn't recognise windows reinstall>>>>>

This sounds like my problem. Have you solved this? Which version of driver runs on buddy's computer where works? Are you going reinstalled driver or simply put card in machine and windows automatic recognize this new device? Perhaps that was the key answer to my problem, thx.

Finally, I checked in with an old driver version 258.96 (with old installation wizard) and does not display CODE 43 in Device Manager with low-res desktop. But now its does artifacting on desktop! I try with the thermal compound (the recommendation to take the heatsink of the card, remove any remains of old thermal paste and clean the GPU and heatsink contacts properly and apply a fresh layer of thermal paste). I conclude from this that the new versions of drivers are with the built-in diagnostics for health of card and any type of error happens it reports CODE 43 to stop the operation of the device. I think this is generally in response to all of the same problem-HARDWARE MALFUNCTION
