Just installed a new SSD but I can't clone my drive onto it?

I just installed the Kingston A400 480GB SSD into my system. I've formatted it to make it ready for cloning. I've made sure to reduce the current disk size from 550GB used to less than 200GB (meaning I have over 800GB of free space on my current HDD). But for some reason, EaseUS claims there is "insufficient space" and therefore I can't clone my drive. Any help?

Solution
1. First of all there is NO need to format your destination drive, i.e., the recipient of the clone, prior to undertaking the disk-cloning operation. There's no harm in doing so but it is unnecessary.

2. Since your 480 GB destination drive contains sufficient disk-space to receive the 200 GB of data remaining on your "source" drive (apparently a 1 TB drive?) there would seem to be no impediment re available disk-space to carry out a successful d-c operation. (We're assuming, of course, that your source drive boots & functions problem-free in the current system, right?)

3. So what went awry with the d-c operation is impossible to determine at this point. Perhaps in formatting the intended SSD destination drive you multi-partitioned it in such a way as to cause of the problem you encountered with the d-c program you used although that ordinarily would not cause the problem you encountered.

4. Or you simply misused the program - not an uncommon event. The EaseUS Todo program you used is a decent program. While it's not our usual d-c program we've found it reliable. So you may want to give it another try. The Macrium Reflect program recommended by mcnumpty is also a reliable product should you want to give that program a go.

1. Ok then, but it's already done so it doesn't matter.

2. My current 1TB HDD boots up and functions no problem. Now I've also reduced the used space to merely 80GB. I've tried out Macrium Reflect as well (suggested by a commenter) but I still get the same error "insufficient disk space" (I'm assuming it's talking about the destination drive), but that is obviously just nonsense.

3. I'm not all that good with tech-talk so I don't understand most of what you are saying here.

4. Pretty sure I haven't. Looked up multiple guides concerning EaseUS and they all say to do this and to that. Also check the "SSD Optimization box" and whatever. Tried different settings too but it just doesn't want to work.

I've seen some talk about "reducing the size of my HDD so when I clone it; the files in my HDD will fit in the SSD"? No idea what this means but is it a possible fix to my problem.

Thanks for trying to help anyways (this goes to all the comments), but I still don't know what the problem is and haven't found any help online. Any suggestions as to what I might do now? I have a LAN coming up very soon so I'd wish for this to be done by then.

UPDATE: Just noticed on the Gyazo link I sent that my current SSD has 87.76GB of space already used? (coincidentally the same amount as my HDD). Although when I check my File Explorer, nothing of the 450GB of available space is being used. Any thoughts?

I've tried it. Still doesn't work. Check the other comment for a more in-depth answer.
And yes, I have emptied the recyclebin. Here you can see all my storage use: https://gyazo.com/70bbaf465c12b0ce197cbf409b4c2703
It's in Norwegian, but that doesn't matter.

I don't really feel like going through buying a fresh install of Windows (losing all of my files in the process) when I could just clone my existing drive (Windows 10 + files) to a new one and use my current HDD as a storage drive.

no problem

when you are cloning

you havent by any chance ticked the sector by sector option have you?

I did it on the EaseUS tool, don't see the option on Macrium Reflect.

this is a GIF of what I am doing in Reflect. I don't see any checkboxes for Sector by Sector here.
Named the SSD "Windows and Games" because that is what I will be using it for.

OK..I can't follow that chipmunk cursor running around in your screencap.
But anyway....

Is this a secondary drive? Not the OS drive?
If so, you do not need to "clone" anything.
A simple copy/paste to the new drive, give the new drive the same drive letter as the old one, done.

But a clone in Macrium should work if you want to go that route.
I can't follow that little gif, but it would appear you're selecting something not quite right.

Send another screenshot of Disk Management with both the source (your 1 TB) drive and the destination (480 GB) drive connected. Ensure the Macrium error msg. is NOT included in the screenshot). But ensure the screenshot ALSO INCLUDES THE UPPER PORTION OF DM - the part that contains info in the various columns from "Volume" to "% Free". Got that?

I only had 1 drive (my HDD) and now I have 2 (+SSD). On my only HDD I have Windows + everything. On my new drive (SSD) I intend to have Windows + some other stuff (which is why I am trying to clone)

It isn't. Check other comment for screenshot of Macrium interface.

my guess its something to do with the size of your C partition

if you shrunk that down to say 200gb in disk management

then clone leaving the unallocated partition created unticked it will work

then on the cloned ssd just expand the 200gb to full size in disk management

yep seen it now

i am a very slow typer lol so have to play catch up sometimes

yes possibly they could have clean installed by now

assuming they have the serial numbers handy for any software etc

and forgot to say earlier you wouldnt need to buy a new windows 10 to clean install

link your windows 10 to your microsoft account

changing hard drive wont be classed as different hardware

Do you mean "resetting" Windows? (As in a factory reset) and if so, how would I do that on my SSD? (As in, how would I re-install Windows on my SSD, from my HDD?) - because I don't want to buy a new Windows 10 when I already own it. Is this even possible?
Just exploring other possibilities if copying doesn't work.

i just explained you dont need to buy new windows

For a new install on a new drive in the same system, you DO NOT need to buy the OS again.
