Just installed Win XP on a virtual PC. I keep getting the message "cannot find server or DNS error" when I try to run Windows

I am setting up a virtual PC and have just installed Windows XP. IE opens but cannot find server for Windows Update or Adobe. Plus it looks off. I was able to log onto my bank's home page but it looks completely different from how it usually looks. Anyway have tried every workaround I can think of. Has anyone had this problem? What can I do to fix it? I already have a virtual PC running Windows XP and there are not problems with IE although I use it rarely. I do all of my browsing and email on my Mac.

I suspect you have IE 8, its very old, most websites don't work well with it.
install chrome or firefox, you can also update IE
