My old hard drive died, and I just got a new one, I installed windows using a ISO image that got formatted to a flash drive. I opened my desktop and razer asked to install because I have razer mouse and keyboard. then the screen went black, so I rebooted and didn't download razer, but I opened up my msi disk for my drivers. It was loading, and then the screen went black again. I had changed the screen resolution to 1000 something x 1000 something from the super zoomed in version that it was. Did this mess it up? Do I have to use dban to remove everything, then install windows? Edit. Now every time I open windows the login screen will show up after a while, and then sometimes after I wait a long time my mouse will show up for about a minute then disappear on the black screen. And sometimes I don't even get the windows login screen

Hi,

Since you have done a clean install you need to install you GPU driver.
Setting custom resolution that is not regular will cause trouble, you should be setting it to something like 1024 x 768 - 1280 X 1024 install you driver and then max out the resolution (1600 X 1024 or 1680 X 1050: this is example, you will have a list once the driver is installed and should match your native screen resolution)

I set the resolution to 1280 x 1024, but I just reinstalled windows so I'm not going to change it this time, I'll report back :)
Edit: I opened up windows, closed out of the screen with the razer stuff, and my computer said it was installing system files or something. I opened up Microsoft edge and started to type, then the screen flashed black, then back to windows, then back to black, but it stayed black
