should any motherboard I buy now work with my his ice r9270x?
any board with a pci express x16 slot? or is there some other requirements or is the card just not compatible with certain boards? any information helps.

As long as the motherboard has a PCI-e x16 ,any graphics card will work.

He is right and if the slot is gen 2.0 at least , it s fine
R9 270X needs two 6 pin power connectors ,draws up to 180W ,500W good psu is recommended

thanks for the responses the only reason I ask is because it didn't work with an Advantech board I had for some reason but worked on a different board, it might have just been Advantech board though.

it it is pci-e 1.1 ,might happen but even so it should run
