Hey, so i've been going back and forth. I want to put 32 gigs of ram in this mother board.
http://www.asus.com/Commercial_Servers_Workstations/Z9PAD8/#specifications

I'm a fan of crucial ( i may consider kingston if you guys advise) and wanted to know

-should i buy 8 modules or will it be better to go with only 4? (must add to 32gb)
-should i go for DDR3 PC3-14900 or DDR3 PC3-12800? its the latency that throws me off.
-lastly, go with single or dual ranked? i feel like i want single but need advice.

this is for a workstation mostly for visual effects. (after effects, maya, c4d)
will have 2x Xeon E5-2630 v2 Ivy Bridge-EP 2.6GHz.

thanks guys, i already bought everything else, but crucial and asus hasnt been much help.

32gB total or for each CPU? If you want to utilize quad channel for each CPU you will want 8 sticks. I'd look to the 1866/10 unbuffered GSkill Ripjaws Z F3-2400C11Q2-64GZM - can get the 64 GB set if you need 32GB for each CPU or if looking for 32GB overall for the system then prob the 8x4GB RJ Z 1866/9 set F3-14900CL9Q2-32GBZL

With two CPUs you could also save a little an get an individual set for each CPU (a 4x8GB for each or a 4x4GB for each)....the Unbuffered are more cost effect and just as reliable as the more expensive Buffered sticks
