morning all

im kinda new to this overclocking malarkey but decided to give it a go with the AI Booster tool that comes with my mobo (hand holder for n00bs!)

my chip is an AM2 orleans core w/512 cache and i got it up to 2.53 on stock cooling running at a steady 60 degrees (which i'm happy with for the time being, my case needs better cooling)

was just wondering what others have experienced is with this cpu?

what i have is now effectively a 3800+ but i was also wondering, if the chip has the same core/cache etc does this make it effectively the same thing w/different clock speeds?

yeah i guess it is.

healthy temps depend on who you speak to tho! well i just wanted to see how far i could take it on stock, gonna be sorting out my cooling soon (just hate the frigging noise those fans make!)

what exactly do high temps cause? cos im experiencing no instability

worked out the sig ta 😳

Forget the software tool
Get in bios and put it to 2.6Ghz
Your temp is a little high
I have my 3200+ @ 2400 with only 45C full load.
Your signature pic only appears after 100 posts

stress, to the user that is

the cooler you can make it the better. it will last longer
if it idles at 60c? then what are load temps or temps under load?
if it gets too hot it will throttle back some. though not sure what
temps the amd starts to throttle at?

idle temps like yours are normally for P4,s

sorry i worded my post wrong, 60 is under stress (prime95) for 5 hours

im now idling at 50 -52

sound ok?

haha, kewl

ive heard a lot of peopl say you should always oc in the bios, but do you always use ai booster?

cant see the difference myself if it works

one thing. you might think about an aftermarket cpu cooler.

yeah been thinking about that

i need one that would be easy to fit though, cant be bothered taking the mobo out to fit one (first time build, i want to leave it cos its working!)

any suggestions for an easy to fit cooler? a quiet one would be nice too

im uk mate

gonna get myself a nice big copper zalman i think, hopefully get them temps down

thanks for the help tho, nice to know not everyones sole reason for existence is to lambast "n00bs" for their stupidity
