So a guy was selling an i7 3820 and a GA-X79-UP4 motherboard for $250. Without thinking I purchased the components right away. Did I get a good deal ?

I didn't do any research before I purchased them, I'm mainly just gonna be doing gaming. Should I just cancel the order and get an i5 instead ? Guy hasn't shipped the items yet.

You got a bonkers good deal O_O an i7 3820 alone sells for ~$330, and the motherboard sells for a crazy ~$550, from my research. Its actually almost too good to be true, hopefully is not fake.
I don't recommend canceling the order unless it is most likely a fraud. The i7 3820 will handle any game out there :) pair it up with a nice GPU, RAM, PSU, HDD etc. and you will have a really nice gaming pc on your hands for not very much money.

Good luck ^_^

Well considering the I5 4690K IS around 229 us dollars I think you got a good deal yes its a generation behind the I5 but its far from dead and read this...Intel Core i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E Quad-Core 3.6GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 2011 130W BX80619i73820 Desktop Processor

I think the sandys are better Cpus for overclocking then the haswells IE+I5
