i have just ordered the PNY GeForce 7600GS 256MB for m system, its pci-e, but its gonna be running on a x4 bus with a x16 phiysical slot. what sort of fps do you think i will get? i have 1GB ddr400 ram and a celeron D 3.06 proccesor (yes i know the proccesor sucks, im working on the money for it).

also what do you think of the card? is it decent?

the card

An example

I would say for Battlefield maybe 15fps
For Doom 3 maybe the same 15fps
For Call of duty 2 maybe.... 16fps

I dont think you would go higher

Im just telling him the truth, so he wont get excited about the new card.

My friend had a Pentium D 930 w/ 2Gb of Ram, a 7300GT and a 250Gb hard drive. He used to get between 15fps and 18fps in battlefield 2, but then he upgraded to a 7600GT and went all the way up to 30fps.

Now, the 7600GS is not a bad card and I would say that 15fps should make him happy. Dont expect 20fps or 30fps with that system.

Anyways if that is what he needs, then there is no problem with that cuz stills a mid-range system.

Medium, but that was because i have 1gb ram. But ran smooth 😀 . Ran medium @ 1280*960 with 4xAA and was good playable. Only thing is i like to have higher fps'es in fps shooters, so i just picked 1024*768 @ med and ran great 😀

Well that true, but you dont have to believe me. As long as you can play it at your pc then its all fine. But im convinced he will play BF2 easily with a 7600gs.

But im going to sleep now. Its getting late (2.44am)

Hehe I believe you. Anyways everybody knows their own pc. 7600GS is a good card for medium settings. Well looks like you will be answering tomorrow hehe. Here is 8:46pm in Miami 😛

hey, sos i forgot to mention what sort of games XD, mostly css and hl2 mods, and im not to bothered about not having AA and other filtering stuff on. aAnd 15 fps? im doubtful on that, i have a friking pci fx 5200 and it runs at around 30 fps with mediumish to high settings on 1024x768.

also how much of a difference would a proccesor upgrade make? im gonna get a new one eitherway cos celeron just sucks. but how much difference would it make to my games do you think?
thanks all

That´s bs! My 6600gt do better; and the 7600 gs its a little superior.

With a Pentium D 805 (2.6 Ghz) w/ this 76000GS i was getting around 20 FPS in Oblivion, about 40-50 in BF2.

Upgraded to C2D, now i get 30 FPS in Oblivion, 60 in BF2 (Medium-High). Wifes computer was sitting around 10 in BF2 w/ a 6200 and a Athlon 3200. Blach....

Dude, just check out tom's vga charts to get an approximate answer.
The 7600GS is not a powerhouse by far, but in most games at 1280 or under, with medium details and probably no aa, it will run fine (excluding oblivion, of course).

Unless your card is passively cooled, you can likely overclock it a good 10% on both mem and core. If it's passive, I dont recommend it, unless you were planning on getting a decent aftermarket fan anyway.

HL2 is actually not demanding on hardware, even though the engine is quite good. At 1024 you can probably crank it up to maximum details and still get decent fps with the 7600gs.

You do know that games have things known as "Quality settings" to help improve performance.

hey 99 dollars on newegg for a amd 3400 64 and a motherboard for free. thats what im doing. i have a celeron too. im agp but not for a month. :)

I've MSI 7600GS 256MB it is good budget card.. I've played BF2142 with medium settings at 1024*768 and 2xAA around 30fps.
you can see benchmarks of my pc here.

i got a 7600 GT just last week and i get about 35 FPS on battlefield all setting on high (except one i cant remember) i cant go higher due to 1 gig of ram ( i am using 960 ram and higher settings and lag comes). the processor prob wont matter unless its runing at 90% or higher during the game and if it does overclock it ive heard it will overclock to 4.1 GHZ on stock. The ram speed you have is the only draw back.

but in conclusion you should get 30 FPS on every game (except oblviion) on high settings on 1024/768 thats my estimate. Also i havent done this but you may want to overclock your card. ill only overclock if i hit any sort of lag.

Hey what is that aa? i know its anti al something but what does it do?
AA is anti aliasing.its used to remove the jaggies or stair step effects that occur around a 3 d object.....
it can go all the way from 2x 4x to 8x...the bigger the number the better is the picture quality but less is the performance.....

hope it helped.... :)

My 9800pro 128mb can do more than twice as good as that with medium-high settings in bf2 and 1280x1024 res. No AA tho. I get between 30 and 45fps most times with an a64 3000+ s754, 1gb ddr400.
