Approximate Purchase Date: ASAP, but can wait until prime day if prices are expected to go down for the sale.

Budget Range: $1000 pre tax, not including GPU or storage because I already have those. I am flexible on the price if it makes sense for the build and what I want. This budget is just for the CPU, motherboard, RAM, cpu air cooler, power supply.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Mainly 1440p 144fps and 4k 60fps gaming, and regular web surfing

Are you buying a monitor: Not right now, I will purchase a 1440p 144hz in the future. Right now I will be using a 65inch LG C9 OLED.

Parts to Upgrade: CPU, Motherboard, RAM, CPU Air Cooler, Power Supply

Do you need to buy OS: No
Please note that if you're using an OEM license of Windows, you will need a new one when buying a new motherboard.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:
I prefer Micro Center, but wherever I can get the best deal.

Location: New York City

Parts Preferences: CPU - AMD or Intel, whichever would be better
Motherboard - Gigabyte/Asus
RAM - G Skill, Corsair
Power Supply - no preference
Air Cooler - No preference

Overclocking: NO

SLI or Crossfire: NO

Your Monitor Resolution: 4k 65inch LG C9 OLED, will purchase a 1440p monitor in future.

Additional Comments: I just purchased a 7900xt, now I need to figure out the rest of the parts. I don't care about having RGB, would prefer not to have it but if the best part for the price has RGB then I'll take it. I will decide on a case last.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: My current PC that I built is over 8 years old, I want to be able to play recent games at 1440p on high settings with high FPS.

My parts that I picked out:
CPU
ryzen 7 7800x3d
https://www.microcenter.com/product...-8-core-boxed-processor-heatsink-not-included
This should be the best for gaming and for the 7900 xt right? I was debating on getting an i5 13600k but decided to spend the extra money and just go big here, is this CPU necessary for 1440p/4k gaming with a 7900 xt?

Motherboard
Gigabyte B650 Aorus elite
https://www.microcenter.com/product/659691/gigabyte-b650-aorus-elite-ax-amd-am5-atx-motherboard
This pretty much has enough usb/sata/nvme ports that I need.

Does this board have good vram and can I control the case fan speeds with this board so the fans aren't always running at full speed and auto adjust based on what the PC is doing?

RAM
g skill trident 32gb ddr5 6000 cl30
https://www.microcenter.com/product...top-memory-kit-f5-6000j3038f16gx2-tz5nr-black

g skill trident 32gb ddr5 6000 cl36

I am leaning towards the pricier one since it has a better CL for only $15 more.

Air Cooler:
Thermalright Phantom
https://www.amazon.com/Thermalright-Phantom-TL-C12B-Technilogy-Bearing/dp/B0BNDTJVPL

deepcool ak620
https://www.microcenter.com/product/645414/deepcool-ak620-cpu-air-cooler
I know the noctua nh-d15 is king but I think it's overkill for the 7800x3d right?

Is the thermalright the better option here?

I would prefer the quitter cooler if they perform similarly.

Power Supply:
corsair rm850x

Your chosen parts seem like a good balance.

The only reason to go Intel over AMD is multithreaded workloads because at every price point aside from the top Intel provides more perf/$. If you're just looking for gaming the 7800X3D is the way to go.

Cooler wise I'd probably lean towards the Deepcool just because it's going to be a little better quality manufacturing wise unless you need to save the money. I have a Thermalright Peerless Assassin on my server and one of the fans makes a fair bit of noise under load. I could probably do something about it, but it's never really under load and the cooler was cheap so I don't care.

If you're dead set on Micro Center get this DRAM since you're not looking to overclock it has better timings: https://www.microcenter.com/product...annel-desktop-memory-kit-ff3d532g6000hc-black

This saves you $14 if that makes any difference: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Jk...6-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-cmk32gx5m2b6000c30

That team group t force ram says it's for Intel xmp, that wouldn't work with an AMD CPU correct?

DRAM doesn't work that way it's just the profile type. Intel has XMP and AMD has EXPO, but most AMD motherboards support both.

From the specs page for the mobo you selected: Support for AMD EXtended Profiles for Overclocking (AMD EXPO™) and Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) memory module
