Just set up a Wi-Fi range extender and now multiple devices won't connect to the internet.

Hello, My family and I have always had problems with internet strength at one half of our house so we came up with the solution of buying a new Range Extender so that it would reach the entire other side. Ever since then, a couple of the devices we use, say we have 100% signal to the internet but when we try to use them it says we are offline. It is extremely frustrating and I would really appreciate it if someone could possibly identify the problem and either tell us what may be wrong or give us a solution.

I am sorry if this isn't necessarily the correct place to ask this question but we could really use the help, thank you.

Solution
The range extender itself must have very good signal from the main router. It does no good to put it in the remote location where the PCs already get poor signal.

If you can log into the range extender it should tell you if it is connected to the main router and the signal level it has. Exactly how you do this depends a lot on the brand of device. Since you have very strong signal to your end devices it is highly likely you do not have a connection between the repeater and the main router

These devices tend to be tricky to setup and keep function. Be sure you have WDS enabled on both devices and the repeater is allowed to use WDS on the main router. Some routers you must key the mac of they repeater into the router.
