I want to know if a new interface with an updated BIOS is normal. The system seems to be working fine so far just updated it earlier today.

MSI's B350 and B450 non-MAX boards in particular change their UI, basically eliminating the graphical bits (GUI) as well as remove support for some old architecture processors (Bristol Ridge) when updated for Matisse and later processor compatibility. The reason is the BIOS ROM chip doesn't have storage capacity for the rather large number of processor generations and models, especially when including the APU's - processors with integrated Radeon graphics.

In the case of both of our MSI's, a B350m Mortar and B450m Mortar, the updated non-GUI BIOS is just as fully functional as the GUI BIOS with all the necessary bits for UEFI or legacy (CSM) modes of operation and provides full support (including PBO and Curve Optimizer) for all generations of Ryzen processors, assuming it's the latest BIOS version.
