So awhile back I got a laptop as a gift from someone and I so far have taken it up to 8GB of RAM and also put an SSD in it. This is all fine and dandy but I would also like to do a CPU upgrade, I know my way around in this laptop as I have taken it apart a few time, once for a charging jack problem, another just for the upgrades listed above. What I would like to know is if I can take the I5 out and put in an I7 2670QM.

The website shows that it would be possible, however, would I need to do a bios update or find a bios that allows it to have a four core CPU
And I don't believe it is soldered in place but I would like someone to confirm this for me.

Do you think I would have to do anything with the bios, or should it be fine.

Work flawlessly, after a BIOS upgrade, chip went right in place of the other one, but I did need to replace my charger with a 95W charger instead of a 65W
